SUMMARY:Globe Creative Writing Group
DESCRIPTION:Globe Creative Writing Group was established in October of 2016. We meet weekly at the Globe Bookstore on Mondays from 19-21. Feel free to come by and introduce yourself\, whether or not your facebook request has been acknowledged by us. We receive many requests\, and prefer to accept those we know will contribute later on. :). \n\n\n\nWe are an eclectic group composed of various writers practising a range of techniques. We’ve so far been writing short fiction\, poetry\, essays\, genre fiction\, experimental prose\, surrealism\, playwriting\, screenwriting\, non-fiction as well as long-term projects. \n\n\n\nThis group relies on and sustains itself through thoughtful and productive critique. During our meetings\, we discuss each member’s submission (should they choose to submit that week) in depth. At the end of each meeting\, a prompt is assigned that we will base our submissions for the next week on. Transcending the prompt\, of course\, is always possible. If you would like feedback on a long-term project or a submission that isn’t related to the prompt\, feel free to do so. \n\n\n\nRules and Guidelines for Submissions:\n\n\n-To ensure everyone can give\, and get\, quality critiques\, we will review no more than 8 submissions per week.\n\n\n-Please submit by Saturday at the latest. As many of us have jobs\, families\, holidays etc.\, we need ample time to give thoughtful feedback and criticism to each submission. If you submit later than the Saturday deadline\, don’t worry! We can save your work to critique the next week.\n\n\n-If you do submit\, please be present at the meeting that your work will be critiqued. If you cannot make it\, please let the group know via the Facebook group. If we take the time to critique\, we want to know that you will be there to accept feedback. Again\, if you cannot make it\, we will save your submission for the next week.\n\n\n-Please do not submit work that is longer than 1\,500 words. We want to make sure everyone receives ample time to discuss and is not overwhelmed by the amount of content they will need to read. Because of this\, please try to adhere to a no more than 1\,500-word standard. \n\n\n\nAI Disclaimer\nWriters: If you’ve used AI in your work\, please inform us and tell us to what extent you have used AI.\nCritiques: Please refrain from using AI to assist in your critiques. We are sharing our work with others because we want your perspective\, and we want to b\n\n\nPrompts are meant to be broad in order to maximize creativity. We have had long-term projects devised from simple prompts and continue to! It’s a way for us to break free of our comfort zones as writers. Don’t be afraid!\n\n\nAs a group\, we also encourage publishing work\, whether it be in Prague or outside. Feel free to post any publishing opportunities you think would fit the group or anyone in it. So far we have had several prize winners and magazine publications from group members. This group is fundamentally about encouragement! \n\n\n\nAny other questions\, please send us a message on Facebook 🙂\n\n\nHappy writing!

SUMMARY:Come and speak czech Mondays
DESCRIPTION:Už od rokem 2018 se u drinky potkáváme s cizinci co dlouhodobě žijí v Praze a pomáháme jim s procvičováním češtiny.\nSince 2018 we have been meeting up with expats living in Prague long-term over a drink to help them better their czech knowledge.\nFree entry.\nCO TO JE? // WHAT IS IT?\nIt is a meetup for everyone who has lived in Prague for some time and wants to get serious about their Czech language skills. It doesn’t matter where you come from\, everybody attending will be lead to chat in Czech.\nMichael Thomas constructed a successful language learning method using audio recordings of a class\, leaving space and time for students to try to compose the sentences themselves.\nAs many other psychologists assume\, your brain learns best while creating the content itself. For example: once you count a simple numerical task yourself\, you are much more likely to remember the procedure years after\, than if you just try to remember every formula there is.\nOur language lessons uses this knowledge to create a completely new approach to this. We assume that you have picked up a few words over the months or years you have lived here\, maybe you read a book or two and maybe there is a Czech dictionary next to your toilet bowl.\nMaybe you understand a little bit\, but you are too lazy\, shy or insecure to use this skill in conversation. Well\, guess what – everybody attending is having the same issue as you\, and yes – you can switch to Spanish or English or any language you prefer if you feel more comfortable that way\, and maybe meet someone interesting and want to have a more complex conversation.\nYou are not going to leave with seven different homeworks\, we are not going to give you tests or grades. We will just provide the comfortable and inspiring space of an art gallery\, background music and some refreshments\, and encourage your brains to do the job instead of the teachers.\nYou should be at least somewhat serious about learning Czech to enjoy the experience fully\, but you are more than welcome to come pay us a non-binding visit either way.\nDO YOU WANT TO SUPPORT US?\nCome and speak Czech events are free of charge. If you fell in love with what we do and want to help us grow it\, you can support us at our Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/speakczech

SUMMARY:The Wanderer of the Lonely Star · Finnish Poet Arto Melleri in Translation
DESCRIPTION:DATE & TIME : 𝟏𝟒.𝟗 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝟏𝟗:𝟎𝟎\nVENUE: 𝐋’𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐯𝐞́ (Šternberkova 1253/11\, 170 00 Praha 7-Holešovice) \n𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝\, an infamous rebel and bohemian 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐢 is born anew\, entering the wider consciousness through the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of his poetry. \nArto Melleri (1956–2005) was a wildly original\, fiercely distinctive poet. His poetry is now\, for the first time\, available to the wider world. Often described as a fiercely original torchbearer of the Romantic tradition — a rarity at the time — Melleri was a poetic amalgamation of rock ’n’ roll lifestyle and magical realism\, writing in a country and cultural climate that had yet to recognize the very term “magical realism.” During his most prominent years of writing and publishing poetry\, he quickly became a 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝: an idiosyncratic and 𝐮𝐧𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞. \n“The Wanderer of the Lonely Star — Finnish Poet Arto Melleri in Translation” evening celebrates his poetry throughout his career\, with readings from the first ever English translation by local poets: 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝\, 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐬\, 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐒̌𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐯𝐚́\, 𝐓𝐲𝐤𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐲 and 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐚 \nFor book inquiries please contact: enostone@enostone.fi
