SUMMARY:Eyal Poleg – The Great Bible as a Useless Book
DESCRIPTION:V dubnu vystoupí se svým příspěvkem v rámci cyklu Staročeský dýchánek Eyal Poleg (Queen Mary University of London). \nAnotace:The Great Bible (1538/9) is often seen as a monument of reform and authority in Tudor England. A detailed study of dozens of surviving books and manuscripts\, at times using scientific technologies\, will reveal hesitations and tensions in its creation and reception. Despite being mandated for each parish church in the realm\, the Great Bible was incompatible with Church liturgy\, making it a contested book which was required to be displayed but illegal to be read by most parishioners.

SUMMARY:Fundamentals Lino cut
DESCRIPTION:You don’t need to know how to draw. You don’t need to be “creative.” You just need to show up. \nLinocut is one of those things that looks impressive but is secretly very doable. And cutting into the block feels so good\, it’s almost suspicious. You’ll carve your design\, smoosh the ink\, press the paper\, peel it back… and suddenly you’ve made something very cool. Something you’ll actually want to keep. New skill unlocked! We’ll be with you the whole time. Ask a gazillion questions. Make a mess. Change your mind halfway through. That’s what workshops are for. We’re here to support you. \nYou’ll leave with a stack of prints\, a new skill\, and that very awesome feeling of: “I made this with my hands\, and it looks so cool!” \nWhat we’ll doDesign your motif (stuck? We’ll help you)Learn to carve: tools\, techniques\, and very solid safety tips (seriously\, even 7-year-olds have done this)Pull as many prints as you wantExperiment with color if you feel like it \nWhat’s included Everything. Lino block\, tools\, ink\, paper\, and an apron. All of it!Ready to make something cool? SUMMARY:Inner Spaces Prague vol. 12 - art gathering 💫
DESCRIPTION:Inner Spaces is a safe space for artists to share. It is a monthly gathering where four artists of all kinds (poetry\, visual arts\, music\, fashion\, dance\, …) present both their work and the process behind it. An honest dialogue between the artists and the audience then emerges. It is a place to share\, feel encouraged\, and get inspired. It’s a way to quickly and deeply step outside your usual bubble. And\, of course\, a place to connect with other creative and curious souls. \nThe project originates in Lisbon and was brought to Prague in April 2025. Since then\, it has hosted 11 magical evenings with different artists in different spaces and\, most importantly\, created a space for both established and emerging artists to share.Join us this evening – get inspired and become part of the Inner Spaces community. 💫 \n📍 Kampus Hybernská – C.0 Čítarna⏳ Doors open 18:45\, Start 19:00🌿 Free entry\, donations welcome \n🔮 See you there?#innerspacesprague #creativecommunity #pragueevents #artgathering #poetryprague #hyb4 #kampushybernska \nPart of @inner_spaces_lisbon by Iva Divic

SUMMARY:PERFORMANCE BUS (polem performativního umění jižní Moravy)
DESCRIPTION:~* ENG BELOW *~Dubnová série Performance Busu tentokrát vzniká v kurátorské spolupráci s Terénem scénou Centra experimentálního divadla\, a seznámí nás s pulzujícími místy a kolektivy nezávislé kultury jižní Moravy. \nSpolečně zavítáme do ateliéru SVITAVA transmedia art lab zvukového a mediálního umělce\, experimentátora\, konstruktéra a skladatele Jiřího Suchánka. Synesteticky kombinuje zvuk\, světlo\, objekty\, mechaniku\, elektroniku a kódování s pečlivě vybranými prostory a často zapojuje přírodní\, chaotické\, termodynamické procesy do generování nebo ovládání vznikajících hudebních a světelných vzorců. \nNaši výpravu završíme v nezávislém brněnském kulturním centru Rello koncertem a komunitní večeří. \nOběd i večeře jsou v průběhu Performance Busu zajištěny. Vezměte si s sebou prosím hotovost a svačinu na cestu autobusem. \n⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ 𝗝𝗜𝗭𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗞𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗬 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗔𝗡 : ̗̀➛ bit.ly/performancebus-jiznimorava \nITINERÁŘ CESTY: \n➱ 8:15 sraz před Studiem ALTA \n➱ 8:30 výjezd autobusu od Studia ALTA \n➱ 11:00 Lofofora – koncert na mýtince u obce Jamné \n➱ 12:30 oběd v Bistru Zámecký mlýn v Lomnici \n➱ 13:30 Lofofora – instalace na Zámeckém mlýně v Lomnici \n➱ 16:00 performance ve veřejném prostoru Anny Wańtuch \n➱ 17:00 návštěva GaP / Galerie a Prostor Znojmo \n➱ 18:30 návštěva ateliéru Jiřího Suchánka \n➱ 20:00 Rello Brno \n➱ 23:30 návrat do Studia ALTA \nKurátorský tým: Tobiáš Nevřiva\, Orin Rodriguez\, Matyáš Dlab\, Anna Prstková a Kristýna BusinskáProdukce: Mara ŠevčíkováŘidič: Pan Marcel \nPerformance Bus je kouzelná pouť\, na kterou se vydáváme v čele s panem řidičem Marcelem už podeváté. We can look forward to a collaborative concert by sound artists from the Department of Sonology in Hague and an installation by Eva Jaroňová at the Castle Mill in Lomnice. \nIn Znojmo\, we will visit GaP / Galerie a Prostor and see a performance by choreographer Anna Wańtuch\, who has been living here for a long time\, in a public space. In an improvisation inspired by Ksenia Makała‘s project Azyl\, she works with a large plastic sheet as a refuge that both protects and restricts. Choreography and everyday gestures reveal the tension between body and object and explore asylum as a relationship of care. \nWe will also step into the studioSVITAVA transmedia art lab of sound and media artist\, experimenter\, builder\, and composer Jiří Suchánek. His practice focuses on creating sound-light installations and systems\, often interactive and situated in natural or public spaces. He combines sound\, light\, objects\, mechanics\, electronics\, and coding with carefully chosen environments\, frequently incorporating natural\, chaotic\, and thermodynamic processes into the generation and control of emerging musical and light patterns. \nOur journey will conclude at the independent cultural centre Rello in Brno with a concert and a community dinner. \nLunch and dinner are provided during the Performance Bus. Please bring cash and a snack for the bus ride. \n⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ 𝗣𝗔𝗬 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧𝗦 : ̗̀➛ bit.ly/performancebus-jiznimorava \nITINERARY: \n➱8:15 meeting in front of Studio ALTA \n➱8:30 bus departure from Studio ALTA \n➱11:00 Lofofora – concert in a clearing near the village of Jamné \n➱12:30 lunch at Bistro Zámecký mlýn in Lomnice \n➱13:30 Lofofora – installation at Zámecký mlýn in Lomnice \n➱16:00 performance in public space by Anna Wańtuch \n➱17:00 visit to GaP / Galerie a Prostor Znojmo \n➱18:30 visit to studio of Jiří Suchánek \n➱20:00 Rello Brno \n➱23:30 return to Studio ALTA \nCuratorial team: Tobiáš Nevřiva\, Orin Rodriguez\, Matyáš Dlab\, Anna Prstková and Kristýna BusinskáProduction: Mara ŠevčíkováDriver: Mr. Marcel \nPerformance Bus is a magical journey we are embarking on for the ninth time\, led by our driver Mr. Marcel. It is a vehicle for directing our attention toward diverse independent platforms dedicated to performance art and cultural activities unfolding across various corners — and hidden corners — of the Czech Republic. With every journey\, we aim to build new friendships\, experience adventure\, and discover singular artistic practices in places where we might not expect to find them.

SUMMARY:Shut Up & Write! ve Skauťáku
DESCRIPTION:Shut Up & Write! — a worldwide phenomenon. No matter\, if you’re sixteen or sixty\, come and join us on a writing adventure! Anyone’s welcome! You don’t have to be an established author. In fact\, you don’t have to be an author at all! Join our laid‐back group on a Sunday afternoon\, and work on anything you desire. A novel\, a short story\, a screenplay\, a diary entry\, a scientific paper\, a poem\, a recipe\, a blogpost\, or maybe just an urgent e‐mail? Whatever it is that’s on your mind\, we’re here to silently support your efforts. You’ll find us every Sunday at high noon in one of the café back rooms — usually the first one. We gather\, grab some refreshments\, and around 12:15 start a short introductory round. Then we — as expected — Shut Up & Write! We write in two 45‐minute blocks with about 15‐minute break in between to stretch\, resupply\, or visit the bathroom. Perfect for networking too! At the end\, we have a short wrap‐up loop. Sometimes we stay and chat a bit afterwards\, share news\, ideas\, fresh thoughts… But we’re usually done even with that by 3 pm latest. Of course\, you’re free to leave anytime! Started by a San Francisco based sci‐fi writer Rennie Saunders in 2007\, based on years of experience\, and joined by over 10\,000 writers in over 400 cities in more than 60 countries worldwide. Now in Prague! Come try the magic of writing in a company. The primary communication language is English\, but you can write anything you want\, in any language you prefer. No sharing\, no critique\, no stress\, completely free. Participants can be assisted in Czech if necessary. ~~~ Shut Up & Write! (Zmlkni a piš!) Potom — dle očekávání — zmlkneme a píšeme! Nyní i v Praze!

SUMMARY:Otevřená kniha: „Empusion“ Olgy Tokarczuk.
Knihu do češtiny přeložil Petr Vidlák.

SUMMARY:Globe Creative Writing Group
DESCRIPTION:Globe Creative Writing Group was established in October of 2016. We meet weekly at the Globe Bookstore on Mondays from 19-21. \nFeel free to come by and introduce yourself\, whether or not your facebook request has been acknowledged by us. We receive many requests\, and prefer to accept those we know will contribute later on. :). \nWe are an eclectic group composed of various writers practising a range of techniques. We’ve so far been writing short fiction\, poetry\, essays\, genre fiction\, experimental prose\, surrealism\, playwriting\, screenwriting\, non-fiction as well as long-term projects. \nThis group relies on and sustains itself through thoughtful and productive critique. During our meetings\, we discuss each member’s submission (should they choose to submit that week) in depth. \n At the end of each meeting\, a prompt is assigned that we will base our submissions for the next week on. Transcending the prompt\, of course\, is always possible. If you would like feedback on a long-term project or a submission that isn’t related to the prompt\, feel free to do so. \n \nRules and Guidelines for Submissions: \n-To ensure everyone can give\, and get\, quality critiques\, we will review no more than 8 submissions per week. \n-Please submit by Saturday at the latest. As many of us have jobs\, families\, holidays etc.\, we need ample time to give thoughtful feedback and criticism to each submission. If you submit later than the Saturday deadline\, don’t worry! We can save your work to critique the next week. \n-If you do submit\, please be present at the meeting that your work will be critiqued. If you cannot make it\, please let the group know via the Facebook group. If we take the time to critique\, we want to know that you will be there to accept feedback. Again\, if you cannot make it\, we will save your submission for the next week. \n-Please do not submit work that is longer than 1\,500 words. We want to make sure everyone receives ample time to discuss and is not overwhelmed by the amount of content they will need to read. Because of this\, please try to adhere to a no more than 1\,500-word standard. \n \nAI Disclaimer \nWriters: If you’ve used AI in your work\, please inform us and tell us to what extent you have used AI. \nCritiques: Please refrain from using AI to assist in your critiques. We are sharing our work with others because we want your perspective. \nPrompts are meant to be broad in order to maximize creativity. We have had long-term projects devised from simple prompts and continue to! It’s a way for us to break free of our comfort zones as writers. Don’t be afraid! \nAs a group\, we also encourage publishing work\, whether it be in Prague or outside. Feel free to post any publishing opportunities you think would fit the group or anyone in it. So far we have had several prize winners and magazine publications from group members. This group is fundamentally about encouragement! \nAny other questions\, please send us a message on Facebook 🙂 \nHappy writing!

SUMMARY:Come and speak czech Mondays
Since 2018 we have been meeting up with expats living in Prague long-term over a drink to help them better their czech knowledge.Free entry.CO TO JE? // WHAT IS IT?It is a meetup for everyone who has lived in Prague for some time and wants to get serious about their Czech language skills. It doesn’t matter where you come from\, everybody attending will be lead to chat in Czech.Michael Thomas constructed a successful language learning method using audio recordings of a class\, leaving space and time for students to try to compose the sentences themselves. As many other psychologists assume\, your brain learns best while creating the content itself. For example: once you count a simple numerical task yourself\, you are much more likely to remember the procedure years after\, than if you just try to remember every formula there is.Our language lessons uses this knowledge to create a completely new approach to this. We assume that you have picked up a few words over the months or years you have lived here\, maybe you read a book or two and maybe there is a Czech dictionary next to your toilet bowl.Maybe you understand a little bit\, but you are too lazy\, shy or insecure to use this skill in conversation. Well\, guess what – everybody attending is having the same issue as you\, and yes – you can switch to Spanish or English or any language you prefer if you feel more comfortable that way\, and maybe meet someone interesting and want to have a more complex conversation. You are not going to leave with seven different homeworks\, we are not going to give you tests or grades. We will just provide the comfortable and inspiring space of an art gallery\, background music and some refreshments\, and encourage your brains to do the job instead of the teachers. You should be at least somewhat serious about learning Czech to enjoy the experience fully\, but you are more than welcome to come pay us a non-binding visit either way.DO YOU WANT TO SUPPORT US?Come and speak Czech events are free of charge. SUMMARY:𓀤 Ecology of Closeness: Practices of Empathy | Taneční workshop | S. Rahal: Beyond the City of Time
DESCRIPTION:𓀤𓀥 \nJak blízko u sebe mohou dvě těla tančit\, aniž by se dotkla? \n▸ ▸ ▸ Workshop Ecology of Closeness: Practices of Empathy (Ekologie blízkosti: Cvičení empatie) s Alicou Minar proběhne v úterý 14. dubna od 16:00 do 18:00 v rámci doprovodného programu k výstavě Sahej Rahal: Beyond the City of Time (bit.ly/SAHEJ-RAHAL-BEYOND-THE-CITY-OF-TIME) přímo v prostorách Galerie Rudolfinum. \n▸ ▸ ▸ Na workshop ve středu 15. dubna v 18:00 volně naváže performance Ecology of Closeness (Ekologie blízkosti). Více informací o performance naleznete zde: bit.ly/Performance-Ecology-of-Closeness \n𓀤 Alica Minar \nAlica Minar je slovenská choreografka\, performerka a kurátorka působící v Praze a Berlíně. Prostřednictvím bizarních situací intuitivně hledá humor a poezii a společně s diváctvem rozebírá opomíjené stránky palčivých společenských témat. \n▸ ▸ ▸ Více o Alica Minar & col. naleznete zde: alicaminarcol.com \n——— 𓀤𓀥 ——— \n𓀤 Ecology of Closeness: Practices of Empathy | Dance Workshop | Sahej Rahal: Beyond the City of Time \nHow close can two bodies dance without touching? What tension\, curiosity\, or vibration emerges in the space between them? Literal and metaphorical touch enters as both risk and invitation: sensing heat through inner radar\, melting into another body\, offering ourselves as landscapes that shall be respected\, held\, and shared. Skin becomes a porous threshold where self meets the other. What happens when the limit is challenged\, what kind of embrace does this process entail? \nThe project builds on somatic improvisation\, choreographic research\, and (non)touch-based encounters. Performers and dancers navigate proximity\, elasticity\, awkwardness\, vulnerability\, and the intensity of being affected – exploring the capacities and quirks of empathy not as an innate trait but as an embodied practice. \n▸ ▸ ▸ The workshop Ecology of Closeness: Practices of Empathy with Alica Minar will take place on Tuesday\, April 14\, from 4 pm to 6 pm as part of the accompanying programme for the exhibition Sahej Rahal: Beyond the City of Time (bit.ly/SAHEJ-RAHAL-BEYOND-THE-CITY-OF-TIME-EN) at Galerie Rudolfinum. Admission is free. Capacity is limited\, we kindly ask you for a reservation via e-mail rajnisova@rudolfinum.org. The workshop will be held in Czech. \nDEAR VISITORS\, THE CAPACITY OF THE WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. \n▸ ▸ ▸ The workshop will be followed by the performance Ecology of Closeness on Wednesday\, April 15\, at 6 pm. More information about the performance can be found here: bit.ly/Ecology-of-Closeness-Performance-EN \n𓀤 Alica Minar \nAlica Minar is a Slovak choreographer\, performer\, and curator based in Prague and Berlin. Loud visuals in which narration and abstraction go hand in hand are typical of her work. Through bizarre situations\, she intuitively searches for humour and poetry\, while dissecting the neglected sides of burning societal issues together with the audience. Shaped by choreographic scores and clowning principles\, she explores how nudity and costumes distort the perception of the dancing body. Since 2023\, she has also expanded her curatorial practice\, co-creating projects such as the Dancetopia Symposium and Fest of Fools. Since September 2024\, she is part of the curatorial team of Studio ALTA in Prague. Alica is a graduate of choreography studies at HAMU in Prague (BA) and Inter-University Centre for Dance HZT in Berlin (MA). \n▸ ▸ ▸ More info about Alica Minar & col. can be found here: alicaminarcol.com \n𓀤𓀥

SUMMARY:Diskuze MY: Tělo ví (The Body Knows)
DESCRIPTION:Někdy jsme unavení\, někdy rozklepaní\, někdy nám buší srdce radostí. Některé dny tělo vypne a nemůžeme dělat nic. \nMožná nejde o to tělu porozumět. Možná jde o to s ním zůstat. \nKontakt a registrace: Victoria Gabašová\, victoria@malainventura.cz

SUMMARY:Argo: Křest českého překladu dvou básnických sbírek T. S. Eliota
DESCRIPTION:T. Obě útlé sbírky\, vycházející v češtině v jednom svazku\, společně vytyčují nejzřetelnější předěl v Eliotově básnickém díle: první báseň je svou fragmentárností\, tragikomickou rituálností a různohlasím těsně spřízněna s Pustou zemí\, druhá svou meditativní religiozitou a širším souzvukem předjímá pozdní Čtyři kvartety.

SUMMARY:Kafka and Havel: Leadership\, Economics\, and Power
DESCRIPTION:At Hebrew University in 1990\, Havel made the bold claim that\, “I sometimes feel I’m the only one who really understands Kafka.” Where do these two minds meet and where do they diverge? Professor Leah Tomkins\, author of the ground-breaking book\, Franz Kafka and the Truths of Leadership (2024) will join literary scholar doc. Mgr. Zuzana Říhová on stage for a discussion about absurdity\, the economics of attention\, and the role of power in leadership. \nTomkins argues that Kafka’s extraordinary foresight in understanding that power – including the power over life or death – often hinges on the ‘attention grab’ that distorts our personal\, social\, political and organisational relations. Havel too found himself in the seat of political power\, struggling with its ambiguous and delusive temptations. As leaders struggle with their own shrinking attention spans\, as well as with how to direct their supporters’ attention in an increasingly polarised world\, there are surprisingly practical ideas and tactics one can take from Kafka’s work\, which Havel claimed to understand so well.

SUMMARY:The rise of the far right in Latin America - (Discussion Group)
DESCRIPTION:Open political discussion group in Prague – come and participate! \nTheme: The rise of the far right in Latin America; Why does it keep gaining consensus and captivating public opinion? Why do popular sectors\, which have historically identified with the left\, now see these leaders as an option? \nIn Czechia\, the far right (SPD and Motoristé) already influences the government – “Trumpism” has already arrived in the heart of Europe. But perhaps there is a key difference: While in Czechia politics is framed as “democracy vs authoritarianism\,” in Latin America the phenomenon is much cruder: people perceive that voting does very little – it doesn’t solve hunger\, insecurity\, or precarity. Politics is experienced as a circus\, and the far right capitalizes on that rage by promising to “blow up the system” – as a response to the disillusionment with liberal democracy. \nSome of the hypotheses from the left to explain this phenomenon are as follows: \n1. Crisis of representation and failure of “progressivism” – One of the most solid theses points out that the advance of the far right is\, paradoxically\, the child of the crisis of neoliberalism and the inability of the governments that followed it. \n2. Asymmetric polarization”: rebellion dresses up as the right – It’s a common mistake to believe that rebellion and social rage can only translate into left-wing votes. Faced with popular exhaustion\, figures like Milei\, Kast\, or Bolsonaro channel discontent not against capitalism\, but against “political elites\,” “progressivism\,” or the poor (whom they blame for the crisis)\, constructing an authoritarian and liberal common sense. \n3. The return of the Monroe Doctrine by the United States – Trumpism has launched an offensive to retake undisputed control of the region\, challenge geopolitical powers like China\, and stop any attempt at autonomous integration. The far-right governments are\, in this sense\, the executing arms of this new recolonization. \n4. Neofascism and the culture of “order” – More than populism\, what we see is neofascism. These projects share a common core: authoritarianism\, reactionary nationalism\, the cult of the leader\, and the targeting of “scapegoats” (immigrants\, feminists\, dissidents). \n5. The Bukele factor: exception or model? – The analysis here is more complex: he is not a classic neoliberal like Milei\, but his government has mutated toward “bourgeois Bonapartism.” His success lies in having broken with the old corrupt political caste and offering tangible results (security) that the Salvadoran left (FMLN) failed to provide\, thus winning the loyalty of broad popular sectors. \n📅 Date: April 15th⏰ Time: 7 PM📍 Location: AC254 / Argentinská 783/18\, Prague. \nAbout us:Asamblea Abierta de Praga is a leftist collective established by migrants and locals in Prague. With our work\, we seek to build broad and plural alliances with other similar groups and people in the city.
