In fact\, you don’t have to be an author at all! Join our laid‐back group on a Sunday afternoon\, and work on anything you desire. A novel\, a short story\, a screenplay\, a diary entry\, a scientific paper\, a poem\, a recipe\, a blogpost\, or maybe just an urgent e‐mail? Whatever it is that’s on your mind\, we’re here to silently support your efforts. You’ll find us every Sunday at high noon in one of the café back rooms — usually the first one. We gather\, grab some refreshments\, and around 12:15 start a short introductory round. Then we — as expected — Shut Up & Write! We write in two 45‐minute blocks with about 15‐minute break in between to stretch\, resupply\, or visit the bathroom. Perfect for networking too! At the end\, we have a short wrap‐up loop. Sometimes we stay and chat a bit afterwards\, share news\, ideas\, fresh thoughts… But we’re usually done even with that by 3 pm latest. SUMMARY:Table Mountain String Band near Tiny Teahouse - busking edition
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to invite you folks to another semi-acoustic busking gig near the Tiny Teahouse in Letná park.  \nTable Mountain String Band is a four-piece group based out of Prague\, playing high-energy\, driving old-time American fiddle tunes and folk songs. The band gets its name from an area not far from where Nick Jennings grew up\, in Northern California. He fronts the group\, playing clawhammer banjo\, along with his wife Eliška Jennings\, a native of Prague\, on guitar. The couple’s intertwined vocal harmonies and strong rhythms lay the groundwork for the band. \nThey are joined by Ludvík Jacek\, also from Prague\, who has played fiddle from an early age\, developing a versatile and enchanting sound. Hailing from Moravia\, Petr Pijáček brings a solid foundation in Moravian folklore to the group. The reading on April 19 starts at 19:00. \nForty Letters – to Women in WarIn forty short\, meticulously crafted personal letters addressed to forty different women\, Van Loon transforms the horrors of the Second World War into intimate\, largely biographical accounts of resilience\, courage\, and total vulnerability. DESCRIPTION:Globe Creative Writing Group was established in October of 2016. We meet weekly at the Globe Bookstore on Mondays from 19-21.  \nFeel free to come by and introduce yourself\, whether or not your facebook request has been acknowledged by us. We receive many requests\, and prefer to accept those we know will contribute later on. :). \nWe are an eclectic group composed of various writers practising a range of techniques. We’ve so far been writing short fiction\, poetry\, essays\, genre fiction\, experimental prose\, surrealism\, playwriting\, screenwriting\, non-fiction as well as long-term projects. \nThis group relies on and sustains itself through thoughtful and productive critique. During our meetings\, we discuss each member’s submission (should they choose to submit that week) in depth. \n At the end of each meeting\, a prompt is assigned that we will base our submissions for the next week on. Transcending the prompt\, of course\, is always possible. If you would like feedback on a long-term project or a submission that isn’t related to the prompt\, feel free to do so. \n \nRules and Guidelines for Submissions: \n-To ensure everyone can give\, and get\, quality critiques\, we will review no more than 8 submissions per week. \n-Please submit by Saturday at the latest. As many of us have jobs\, families\, holidays etc.\, we need ample time to give thoughtful feedback and criticism to each submission. If you submit later than the Saturday deadline\, don’t worry! Are Slovak national narratives still immersed in a bucolic ideal that has never fully come to terms with modern reality? Are Czech myth-makers perpetually beset by the contradictory sense of belonging to a Slavic East and belonging to a West that denies Eastern-ness?Join philosopher Andrzej Leder\, anthropologist Juraj Buzalka\, and historian Johana Kłusek in discussing how national narratives navigate between ideas of East and West\, past and modernity\, place and world. Moderated by Joe Grim Feinberg \nJuraj Buzalka is a social anthropologist at Comenius University and author of the 2023 book Postsedliaci: Slovenský ľudový protest (Post-Peasants: Slovak Folk Protest)\, described as “a merciless look at Slovaks” that “critically comments on our illusions about ourselves.” \nJohana Kłusek is a social and cultural historian Assistant Professor at Jagiellonian University\, specializing in discursive encounters between East and West in modern history. Na základě zdánlivě nesouvisejících příkladů – od léčebných rituálů v dolnoslezských sanatoriích až po přírodní čistírnu odpadních vod ve Vratislavi – bude Roj zkoumat\, jak voda podporuje odolnost jak v ekosystémech\, tak v lidské psychice. \nPo skončení setkání se ponoříme do estetiky Polska v období komunismu a vydáme se po stopách Asa (Ace)\, superhrdiny na misi vyřešit bizarní záhadu zmizení vody\, ve filmu „Hydrozagadka“ (česky Hydrozáhada) režiséra Andrzeje Kondratiuk z roku 1970. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nPragovka Gallery se nachází v přízemí 1. zálivu E Factory. Drawing on seemingly disparate examples – from health rituals in Lower Silesian sanatoriums to the natural sewage farm in Wrocław – Roj will explore how water fosters resilience within both ecosystems and the human psyche. \nFollowing the meeting\, we will dive into the aesthetics of communist-era Poland\, retracing the steps of As (Ace)\, a superhero on a mission to solve a bizarre mystery involving disappearing water\, in the film Hydrozagadka (1970)\, directed by Andrzej Kondratiuk. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nPragovka Gallery is located on the ground floor of the 1st bay of E Factory. Kapela se dostala do povědomí svým originálním zvukem\, který tvoří kýble\, hrnce a další „nástroje“ z kuchyně či garáže spolu s elektronikou\, synthy a vokály.Noisy Pots\, kteří v minulém roce oslavili deset let od svého založení vystoupili např. na Echoes of Earth Goa (IN)\, v klubech v Mexico City\, na Folk Alliance (USA)\, All About Music Mumbai (IN)\, Reeperbahn (DE)\, Seoul Music Week (KOR)\, Trans Musicales de Rennes (FR)\, aj. V Česku mj. zahráli na festivalech Colours of Ostrava\, Rock for People\, Besedě u Bigbítu. \nPrvní nápady k albu vznikly už asi před deseti na soustředění ve starém opuštěném zlínském kině. Poslední deska‘A Portrait Of John Doe’ (2018)\, kterouvydal s Londýnským skladatelem a pianistou Tomem Hodgem\, vyšla na Britském labelu Mercury KX\, který spadá pod legendární Decca Classics. Floexovu hudbu remixoval např. Max Cooper\,Holandští Deltawerk\, nebo Olaf Stuut. Dlouhodobě spolupracuje s herním studiem Amanita Design a podepsal se pod hudbu ke hrám Samorost 2\, Machinarium\, Samorost 3\, Phonopolis. DESCRIPTION:Shut Up & Write! — a worldwide phenomenon. No matter\, if you’re sixteen or sixty\, come and join us on a writing adventure! Anyone’s welcome! You don’t have to be an established author. In fact\, you don’t have to be an author at all! Join our laid‐back group on a Sunday afternoon\, and work on anything you desire. A novel\, a short story\, a screenplay\, a diary entry\, a scientific paper\, a poem\, a recipe\, a blogpost\, or maybe just an urgent e‐mail? Whatever it is that’s on your mind\, we’re here to silently support your efforts. You’ll find us every Sunday at high noon in one of the café back rooms — usually the first one. We gather\, grab some refreshments\, and around 12:15 start a short introductory round. Then we — as expected — Shut Up & Write! We write in two 45‐minute blocks with about 15‐minute break in between to stretch\, resupply\, or visit the bathroom. Perfect for networking too! At the end\, we have a short wrap‐up loop. Sometimes we stay and chat a bit afterwards\, share news\, ideas\, fresh thoughts… But we’re usually done even with that by 3 pm latest. Of course\, you’re free to leave anytime! Started by a San Francisco based sci‐fi writer Rennie Saunders in 2007\, based on years of experience\, and joined by over 10\,000 writers in over 400 cities in more than 60 countries worldwide. Now in Prague! Come try the magic of writing in a company. The primary communication language is English\, but you can write anything you want\, in any language you prefer. No sharing\, no critique\, no stress\, completely free. Participants can be assisted in Czech if necessary. ~~~ Shut Up & Write! (Zmlkni a piš!) — celosvětový fenomén. Ať už je ti šestnáct nebo šedesát\, přijď a připoj se k našemu psacímu dobrodužství! Všichni jsou vítáni! Nemusíš být zavedený/á spisovatel/ka. Vlastně vůbec nemusíš být spisovatel/ka! Připoj se k naší uvolněné skupině během nedělního odpoledne a pracuj na čemkoliv se ti zachce. Román\, povídka\, scénář\, deníček\, vědecký článek\, báseň\, recept\, blog\, nebo třeba jen urgentní e‐mail? Ať už myslíš na cokoliv\, my tvé úsilí tiše podpoříme. Najdeš nás každou neděli v pravé poledne v jedné za zadních místností kavárny — obvykle té první. Sejdeme se\, dáme si něco dobrého\, a okolo 12:15 začneme krátké úvodní kolečko. Potom — dle očekávání — zmlkneme a píšeme! Píšeme ve dvou 45minutových blocích s přibližně 15minutovou pauzou uprostřed na protažení\, doplnění zásob\, nebo návštěvu toalet. Také je to skvělá příležitost pro navázání hovoru! Na konci pak máme krátké shrnutí. Občas se zdržíme a zabředneme do hovoru\, sdílíme novinky\, nápady\, čerstvé myšlenky… I tak ale býváme nejpozději kolem třetí hotovi se vším všudy. Můžeš ale samozřejmě odejít kdykoliv! Stvořeno sanfranciským autorem sci‐fi Rennie Saundersem v roce 2007\, založeno na letech zkušeností\, s více než 10 000 účastníky z více než 400 měst ve více než 60 zemích.
