SUMMARY:Shut Up & Write! ve Skauťáku
DESCRIPTION:Shut Up & Write! — a worldwide phenomenon. No matter\, if you’re sixteen or sixty\, come and join us on a writing adventure! Anyone’s welcome! You don’t have to be an established author. In fact\, you don’t have to be an author at all! Join our laid‐back group on a Sunday afternoon\, and work on anything you desire. A novel\, a short story\, a screenplay\, a diary entry\, a scientific paper\, a poem\, a recipe\, a blogpost\, or maybe just an urgent e‐mail? Whatever it is that’s on your mind\, we’re here to silently support your efforts. You’ll find us every Sunday at high noon in one of the café back rooms — usually the first one. We gather\, grab some refreshments\, and around 12:15 start a short introductory round. Then we — as expected — Shut Up & Write! We write in two 45‐minute blocks with about 15‐minute break in between to stretch\, resupply\, or visit the bathroom. Perfect for networking too! At the end\, we have a short wrap‐up loop. Sometimes we stay and chat a bit afterwards\, share news\, ideas\, fresh thoughts… But we’re usually done even with that by 3 pm latest. Of course\, you’re free to leave anytime! Started by a San Francisco based sci‐fi writer Rennie Saunders in 2007\, based on years of experience\, and joined by over 10\,000 writers in over 400 cities in more than 60 countries worldwide. Now in Prague! Come try the magic of writing in a company. The primary communication language is English\, but you can write anything you want\, in any language you prefer. No sharing\, no critique\, no stress\, completely free. Participants can be assisted in Czech if necessary. ~~~ Shut Up & Write! (Zmlkni a piš!) Potom — dle očekávání — zmlkneme a píšeme! Nyní i v Praze!

SUMMARY:Globe Creative Writing Group
DESCRIPTION:Globe Creative Writing Group was established in October of 2016. We meet weekly at the Globe Bookstore on Mondays from 19-21. \nFeel free to come by and introduce yourself\, whether or not your facebook request has been acknowledged by us. We receive many requests\, and prefer to accept those we know will contribute later on. :). \nWe are an eclectic group composed of various writers practising a range of techniques. We’ve so far been writing short fiction\, poetry\, essays\, genre fiction\, experimental prose\, surrealism\, playwriting\, screenwriting\, non-fiction as well as long-term projects. \nThis group relies on and sustains itself through thoughtful and productive critique. During our meetings\, we discuss each member’s submission (should they choose to submit that week) in depth. \n At the end of each meeting\, a prompt is assigned that we will base our submissions for the next week on. Transcending the prompt\, of course\, is always possible. If you would like feedback on a long-term project or a submission that isn’t related to the prompt\, feel free to do so. \n \nRules and Guidelines for Submissions: \n-To ensure everyone can give\, and get\, quality critiques\, we will review no more than 8 submissions per week. \n-Please submit by Saturday at the latest. As many of us have jobs\, families\, holidays etc.\, we need ample time to give thoughtful feedback and criticism to each submission. If you submit later than the Saturday deadline\, don’t worry! We can save your work to critique the next week. \n-If you do submit\, please be present at the meeting that your work will be critiqued. If you cannot make it\, please let the group know via the Facebook group. If we take the time to critique\, we want to know that you will be there to accept feedback. Again\, if you cannot make it\, we will save your submission for the next week. \n-Please do not submit work that is longer than 1\,500 words. We want to make sure everyone receives ample time to discuss and is not overwhelmed by the amount of content they will need to read. Because of this\, please try to adhere to a no more than 1\,500-word standard. \n \nAI Disclaimer \nWriters: If you’ve used AI in your work\, please inform us and tell us to what extent you have used AI. \nCritiques: Please refrain from using AI to assist in your critiques. We are sharing our work with others because we want your perspective. \nPrompts are meant to be broad in order to maximize creativity. We have had long-term projects devised from simple prompts and continue to! It’s a way for us to break free of our comfort zones as writers. Don’t be afraid! \nAs a group\, we also encourage publishing work\, whether it be in Prague or outside. Feel free to post any publishing opportunities you think would fit the group or anyone in it. So far we have had several prize winners and magazine publications from group members. This group is fundamentally about encouragement! \nAny other questions\, please send us a message on Facebook 🙂 \nHappy writing!

SUMMARY:Come and speak czech Mondays
Since 2018 we have been meeting up with expats living in Prague long-term over a drink to help them better their czech knowledge.Free entry.CO TO JE? // WHAT IS IT?It is a meetup for everyone who has lived in Prague for some time and wants to get serious about their Czech language skills. It doesn’t matter where you come from\, everybody attending will be lead to chat in Czech.Michael Thomas constructed a successful language learning method using audio recordings of a class\, leaving space and time for students to try to compose the sentences themselves. As many other psychologists assume\, your brain learns best while creating the content itself. For example: once you count a simple numerical task yourself\, you are much more likely to remember the procedure years after\, than if you just try to remember every formula there is.Our language lessons uses this knowledge to create a completely new approach to this. We assume that you have picked up a few words over the months or years you have lived here\, maybe you read a book or two and maybe there is a Czech dictionary next to your toilet bowl.Maybe you understand a little bit\, but you are too lazy\, shy or insecure to use this skill in conversation. Well\, guess what – everybody attending is having the same issue as you\, and yes – you can switch to Spanish or English or any language you prefer if you feel more comfortable that way\, and maybe meet someone interesting and want to have a more complex conversation. You are not going to leave with seven different homeworks\, we are not going to give you tests or grades. We will just provide the comfortable and inspiring space of an art gallery\, background music and some refreshments\, and encourage your brains to do the job instead of the teachers. You should be at least somewhat serious about learning Czech to enjoy the experience fully\, but you are more than welcome to come pay us a non-binding visit either way.DO YOU WANT TO SUPPORT US?Come and speak Czech events are free of charge. If you fell in love with what we do and want to help us grow it\, you can support us at our Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/speakczech \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1976394742912999/?event_time_id=1976394862912987

SUMMARY:Život Briana v Biu Oko
DESCRIPTION:🐣Ve své době vyvolal Život Briana skandál kvůli neúctě k církvi\, dnes zbyl velice zábavný snímek parodující příběh o Ježíši. \n———- \n🇬🇧 Monty Python delivers the group’s sharpest and smartest satire of both religion and Hollywood’s epic films. Set in 33 A.D. Judea where the exasperated Romans try to impose order\, it is a time of chaos and change with no shortage of messiahs and followers willing to believe them. At it’s center is Brian Cohen\, born in Bethlehem in a stable next door\, who\, by a series of absurd circumstances is caught up in the new religion and reluctantly mistake for the promised messiah\, providing ample opportunity for the entire ensemble (Graham Chapman\, John Cleese\, Terry Gilliam\, Eric Idle\, Terry Jones and Michael Palin) to shine in multiple roles as they question everyone and everything from ex-lepers\, Pontius Pilate and haggling to revolutionaries\, crazy prophets\, religious fanaticism\, Roman centurions and crucifixion\, forever changing our biblical view. \n⏳ April 3 at 17.30🎟️ Tickets: biooko.net/zivot-briana

SUMMARY:Face to Face with Artistis in prague
DESCRIPTION:WHY?The “Artists in Prague” PB group was created almost ten years ago\, when I settled in Prague\, yet we’ve never met in person. It’s time to meet face-to-face and let new collaborations flourish. In many sectors\, foreign and local artists are still separated and show little interest in each other. Why is that? Let’s demystify this separation and create a more dynamic\, inclusive\, and international art community. \nWHEN?We will meet every first and third Friday of the month at a cozy café in Prague 1\, the Dorado Cafe\, starting at 18:00. Bring your friends\, share ideas\, and let’s make it happen! \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1757825948670681/?event_time_id=1757828665337076

SUMMARY:Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
DESCRIPTION:We usually discuss and arrange details in whatsapp – if you would like to join please message Lydia Titterington or email Pragie Literary Calendar contact@pragueliterarycalendar.com\, and we can send you the link to join. \nA simple story of a “strong man” whose life is dominated by fear and anger\, Things Fall Apart is written with remarkable economy and subtle irony. Uniquely and richly African\, at the same time it reveals Achebe’s keen awareness of the human qualities common to men of all times and places.

SUMMARY:Eyal Poleg – The Great Bible as a Useless Book
DESCRIPTION:V dubnu vystoupí se svým příspěvkem v rámci cyklu Staročeský dýchánek Eyal Poleg (Queen Mary University of London). \nAnotace:The Great Bible (1538/9) is often seen as a monument of reform and authority in Tudor England. A detailed study of dozens of surviving books and manuscripts\, at times using scientific technologies\, will reveal hesitations and tensions in its creation and reception. Despite being mandated for each parish church in the realm\, the Great Bible was incompatible with Church liturgy\, making it a contested book which was required to be displayed but illegal to be read by most parishioners.

SUMMARY:Fundamentals Lino cut
DESCRIPTION:You don’t need to know how to draw. You don’t need to be “creative.” You just need to show up. \nLinocut is one of those things that looks impressive but is secretly very doable. And cutting into the block feels so good\, it’s almost suspicious. You’ll carve your design\, smoosh the ink\, press the paper\, peel it back… and suddenly you’ve made something very cool. Something you’ll actually want to keep. New skill unlocked! We’ll be with you the whole time. Ask a gazillion questions. Make a mess. Change your mind halfway through. That’s what workshops are for. We’re here to support you. \nYou’ll leave with a stack of prints\, a new skill\, and that very awesome feeling of: “I made this with my hands\, and it looks so cool!” \nWhat we’ll doDesign your motif (stuck? We’ll help you)Learn to carve: tools\, techniques\, and very solid safety tips (seriously\, even 7-year-olds have done this)Pull as many prints as you wantExperiment with color if you feel like it \nWhat’s included Everything. Lino block\, tools\, ink\, paper\, and an apron. All of it!Ready to make something cool? SUMMARY:Inner Spaces Prague vol. 12 - art gathering 💫
DESCRIPTION:Inner Spaces is a safe space for artists to share. It is a monthly gathering where four artists of all kinds (poetry\, visual arts\, music\, fashion\, dance\, …) present both their work and the process behind it. An honest dialogue between the artists and the audience then emerges. It is a place to share\, feel encouraged\, and get inspired. It’s a way to quickly and deeply step outside your usual bubble. And\, of course\, a place to connect with other creative and curious souls. \nThe project originates in Lisbon and was brought to Prague in April 2025. Since then\, it has hosted 11 magical evenings with different artists in different spaces and\, most importantly\, created a space for both established and emerging artists to share.Join us this evening – get inspired and become part of the Inner Spaces community. 💫 \n📍 Kampus Hybernská – C.0 Čítarna⏳ Doors open 18:45\, Start 19:00🌿 Free entry\, donations welcome \n🔮 See you there?#innerspacesprague #creativecommunity #pragueevents #artgathering #poetryprague #hyb4 #kampushybernska \nPart of @inner_spaces_lisbon by Iva Divic

We welcome all people who respect others\, if you have any questions\, you can write to contact@pragueliterarycalendar.com \nAll feedback is welcome! \n\n\n\nGrief Lessons By Emily Skaja\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNo one stole your money.\nNo one stole your whole heart\nthen climbed into a stolen plane\nand stole away into the night\nto disappear entirely\, stealing\ndarkness itself\, then dawn.\nWhat name would you even call\ninto the shadows between\nhere and gone\, yours and no one’s\,\nwhat color could you give it\,\nthis shade of something\nslightly less than life?\nBetter to leave it whole.\nPure death—like an unmined diamond.\nKeep the light of the fire\naway from it—clean\, untempered\nby the tedious heat of language—\nsafe from your magpie\, morbid way\nof turning and turning\nyour pain in your hands\nuntil you’ve crushed it to dust.\nAnd anyway\, who are you to say\nI lost the world? No one. To admit\nthat you held the world at all?\n\n\n\n\nMock Orange By Louise Glück\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt is not the moon\, I tell you.\nIt is these flowers\nlighting the yard.\n\nI hate them.\nI hate them as I hate sex\,\nthe man’s mouth\nsealing my mouth\, the man’s\nparalyzing body—\n\nand the cry that always escapes\,\nthe low\, humiliating\npremise of union—\n\nIn my mind tonight\nI hear the question and pursuing answer\nfused in one sound\nthat mounts and mounts and then\nis split into the old selves\,\nthe tired antagonisms. Do you see?\nWe were made fools of.\nAnd the scent of mock orange\ndrifts through the window.\n\nHow can I rest?\nHow can I be content\nwhen there is still\nthat odor in the world?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCascando by Samuel Beckett\n1 \n\nwhy not merely the despaired of\noccasion of\nwordshedis it not better abort than be barrenthe hours after you are gone are so leaden\nthey will always start dragging too soon\nthe grapples clawing blindly the bed of want\nbringing up the bones the old loves\nsockets filled once with eyes like yours\nall always is it better too soon than never\nthe black want splashing their faces\nsaying again nine days never floated the loved\nnor nine months\nnor nine lives \n2 \nsaying again\nif you do not teach me I shall not learn\nsaying again there is a last\neven of last times\nlast times of begging\nlast times of loving\nof knowing not knowing pretending\na last even of last times of saying\nif you do not love me I shall not be loved\nif I do not love you I shall not love \nthe churn of stale words in the heart again\nlove love love thud of the old plunger\npestling the unalterable\nwhey of words \nterrified again\nof not loving\nof loving and not you\nof being loved and not by you\nof knowing not knowing pretending\npretending \nI and all the others that will love you\nif they love you \n3 \nunless they love you \n\n\n\n\nMarina Tsvetaeva\nYou walk\, somewhat like myself…\nYou walk\, somewhat like myself\,\nHunched\, and not looking up.\nI used to lower my eyes as well!\nStop here\, passerby\, stop!Having gathered your flowers in a\nBouquet\, read the stone by the gate —\nIt will say I was named Marina\,\nAnd I lived to the following date. It’s a grave\, but don’t treat it as such\,\nMy spirit won’t rise to haunt you…\nI\, myself\, loved laughing too much\nWhenever I wasn’t supposed to!My hair was once curled and twisted\nAnd blood used to rush to my face.\nHey\, passerby\, I also existed!\nHey\, passerby\, slow your pace!Stop here and pluck a wild stem\nAnd after that — pick this berry:\nNo berries are sweeter than\nThe ones from a cemetery.Only don’t stand there sighing\,\nAnd please do not hang your head.\nBut rather think of me lightly\nAnd afterward\, likewise\, forget. How the sun shines down upon you!\nIts rays set the dust aglow.\nAnd don’t let my voice disturb you\nAnd vex you from down below. \n\n\nto lean back into it by Charles Bukowski\n  \n\n\nlike in a chair the color of the sun\nas you listen to lazy piano music\nand the aircraft overhead are not\nat war.\nwhere the last drink is as good as\nthe first\nand you realize that the promises\nyou made yourself were\nkept.\nthat’s plenty.\nthat last: about the promises:\nwhat’s not so good is that the few\nfriends you had are\ndead and they seem\nirreplacable.\nas for women\, you didn’t know enough\nearly enough\nand you knew enough\ntoo late.\nand if more self-analysis is allowed: it’s\nnice that you turned out well-\nhoned\,\nthat you arrived late\nand remained generally\ncapable.\noutside of that\, not much to say\nexcept you can leave without\nregret.\nuntil then\, a bit more amusement\,\na bit more endurance\,\nleaning back\ninto it.\nlike the dog who got across\nthe busy street:\nnot all of it was good\nluck.\n\n
