SUMMARY:Prague Fringe: Men Don't Blush
DESCRIPTION:Pick of Colchester Fringe for Prague Fringe. Co-created by multi–award-winning director Jamie Wood and Spanish artist Jose Parra\, this Anglo-Spanish one-man show is a playful mix of comedy\, visual theatre\, text\, and gentle audience interaction. Performed in English with nods to Spanish culture\, it invites you to laugh\, reflect\, and celebrate being ourselves beyond imposed gender roles. \nWe meet Ignacio\, a Spanish man making gazpacho at home\, who\, after recovering from testicular cancer\, begins to question what it really means to be a man. One tomato sparks a surreal journey into another dimension\, where he lives two parallel lives: Tomás Valiente\, a confident self-help guru\, and Tomatito\, a clown in crisis. \nFull of humour and charm\, the show gently challenges toxic stereotypes while offering a warm\, interactive experience. It’s a playful\, imaginative exploration of identity and gender\, and an unforgettable experience that stays with you long after the curtain falls.

SUMMARY:Prague Fringe: Piano Smashers
DESCRIPTION:A mother bequeaths her piano to her children in a will\, but they really do not want it and all that it represents. 4 Star Reviews from Binge Fringe and Fringe Review – A very good play \nA powerful solo play about an unwanted inheritance that ran successfully with SPACEuk at Edinburgh Fringe 2025. 4 Star Reviews from Binge Fringe and Fringe Review. “A very good play.’ \nThis is a play about those things that we inherit and how we often fail to recognise our right to reject them. \n“And they agree\, like all of us\, to simply accept to receive the past.” \nInspired by the plays of Tim Crouch and the theories of Peter Brook and Bertolt Brecht\, Piano Smashers debuted at Brighton Fringe in 2024 and went on to Ventnor and the PBH Free fringe in the same year. \nIt was nominated for Best Performance at The Actors in Brighton and has played at The Cockpit Theatre in London in August 2024 and January 2025.

SUMMARY:Prague Fringe: Romeo and Juliet
DESCRIPTION:Communication breakdown affects us all. Our production of Romeo and Juliet is a modern re imagining of Shakespeare’s original classic play\, drawing out the elements of failed personal and family connections\, prejudice and devasting misunderstandings. With the introduction of elements such as AI\, modern communication technology seems to affecting the way we interact with each other: relationships become less personal and are out of our control. \nThe production will be highly physical\, with the ensemble creating the world of the play rather than relying heavily on set pieces\, and will encompass a grungy modern setting\, in a world very similar to our own.

SUMMARY:Globe Creative Writing Group
DESCRIPTION:Globe Creative Writing Group was established in October of 2016. We meet weekly at the Globe Bookstore on Mondays from 19-21. \nFeel free to come by and introduce yourself\, whether or not your facebook request has been acknowledged by us. We receive many requests\, and prefer to accept those we know will contribute later on. :). \nWe are an eclectic group composed of various writers practising a range of techniques. We’ve so far been writing short fiction\, poetry\, essays\, genre fiction\, experimental prose\, surrealism\, playwriting\, screenwriting\, non-fiction as well as long-term projects. \nThis group relies on and sustains itself through thoughtful and productive critique. During our meetings\, we discuss each member’s submission (should they choose to submit that week) in depth. \n At the end of each meeting\, a prompt is assigned that we will base our submissions for the next week on. Transcending the prompt\, of course\, is always possible. If you would like feedback on a long-term project or a submission that isn’t related to the prompt\, feel free to do so. \n \nRules and Guidelines for Submissions: \n-To ensure everyone can give\, and get\, quality critiques\, we will review no more than 8 submissions per week. \n-Please submit by Saturday at the latest. As many of us have jobs\, families\, holidays etc.\, we need ample time to give thoughtful feedback and criticism to each submission. If you submit later than the Saturday deadline\, don’t worry! We can save your work to critique the next week. \n-If you do submit\, please be present at the meeting that your work will be critiqued. If you cannot make it\, please let the group know via the Facebook group. If we take the time to critique\, we want to know that you will be there to accept feedback. Again\, if you cannot make it\, we will save your submission for the next week. \n-Please do not submit work that is longer than 1\,500 words. We want to make sure everyone receives ample time to discuss and is not overwhelmed by the amount of content they will need to read. Because of this\, please try to adhere to a no more than 1\,500-word standard. \n \nAI Disclaimer \nWriters: If you’ve used AI in your work\, please inform us and tell us to what extent you have used AI. \nCritiques: Please refrain from using AI to assist in your critiques. We are sharing our work with others because we want your perspective. \nPrompts are meant to be broad in order to maximize creativity. We have had long-term projects devised from simple prompts and continue to! It’s a way for us to break free of our comfort zones as writers. Don’t be afraid! \nAs a group\, we also encourage publishing work\, whether it be in Prague or outside. Feel free to post any publishing opportunities you think would fit the group or anyone in it. So far we have had several prize winners and magazine publications from group members. This group is fundamentally about encouragement! \nAny other questions\, please send us a message on Facebook 🙂 \nHappy writing!

SUMMARY:Prague Fringe: Pip Utton - Hunchback of Notre Dames
DESCRIPTION:Fringe legend Pip Utton returns to Prague with what he considers to be one of his most beautiful scripts. Quasimodo keeps vigil over the lifeless body of Gypsy dancer\, Esmeralda. This Hunchback is no caricature\, but a sensitive soul;  rejected at birth as an abomination\, raised lovingly by the cathedral’s archdeacon but cast out  by the people of Paris\, because he is misshapen and ugly. He looks down on Paris from his home\, the lofty tower of Notre Dames\, only the bells and gargoyles for company.” Perhaps God doesn’t love me” If Beauty is only skin deep\, isn’t ugliness the same? \n‘Rare and beautiful’ (Three Weeks). ‘Achieves beauty in its simplicity’ (Stage). ‘Beautifully crafted\, absolutely compelling’ (EdinburghGuide.com) \nfar beyond any star rating a reviewer might give’ Theatreparadijs.nl

SUMMARY:Prague Fringe: Sherlock Holmes The Death and Life
DESCRIPTION:A fantasy based upon a fiction\, finds Arthur Conan Doyle tiring of his intolerably arrogant Sherlock Holmes\, and inventing the arch villain\, Moriarty\, to dispose of him. \nBut Doyle’s dangerous strategy\, combined with his passion for raising the spirits of the dead\, has rather more surreal and dramatic consequences than he bargains for! \nA light-hearted and intriguing investigation of the consequences\, when fictional characters take on lives and ambitions of their own\, quite against the wishes of the author. \nIn this wryly humorous one man tale\, of murder\, mystery and the occult the world’s greatest detective refuses to leave the stage! \nStarring Nigel Miles-Thomas\, written by David Stuart Davies\, adapted for the stage and directed by Gareth Armstrong; with original music by Simon Slater.

SUMMARY:Prague Fringe: Shallowspace
DESCRIPTION:A new trans sci-fi body horror play exploring humanity’s legacy in the stars\, arriving from a rave run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A disembodied artificially intelligent voice awakens August deep in space. In a daze\, she confronts her reality – one of the last human beings floating in the void\, guiding the archive of civilisation towards its destination in the far beyond. Frozen blood. Coolant in your veins. Every moment of human history preserved in digital hyperspace. Memories become data. Routine becomes regimen\, yet somehow\, your limbs feel… wrong? \nWith an original synthwave sound-track\, high-tech projected visuals\, and an entrancing solo performance. Blending a nostalgic and queered vision of science fiction with body horror\, Callie O’Brien’s debut one-woman play is a visceral depiction of the trans lived experience\, brimming with yearning\, spite\, and a sea of ethereal sensation.

SUMMARY:Prague Fringe: The Rodin Project: Lady Macbeth
DESCRIPTION:After the sell out success with The Whisper of the Waves – Shinehouse Theatre return. Drawing inspiration from Auguste Rodin’s The Gates of Hell\, this project flips the images of Adam and two shadows depicted at the gates of hell. If\, according to Rodin’s conceptualisation\, men descend into hell due to women and their desires\, then what kind of gateway will Eve and her past and future construct? \nIn this project\, three female performers—Emiko Agatsuma\, experienced in Japanese Butoh; Yu-Chiao Chen\, a professional dancer; and Jia-Yi Chen\, a theater actor—each bring their diverse backgrounds and professional careers spanning their 20s\, 30s\, and 40s. With their respective expertise in Japanese Butoh\, contemporary dance\, and theatrical performance\, under the guidance of choreographer Po-Yuan Chung\, they will explore the intentions behind the text and sculpture through a dialogue of heterogeneous bodies.
