With their respective expertise in Japanese Butoh\, contemporary dance\, and theatrical performance\, under the guidance of choreographer Po-Yuan Chung\, they will explore the intentions behind the text and sculpture through a dialogue of heterogeneous bodies.

This show ranges from everyday life observations as a middle-aged dad\, being an Italian in Prague\, love and hate for food\, cultural (mis)understandings . He cannot be bothered enough to have a midlife crisis\, so he does this instead. \nHis (more or less) hour-long special will be a mix of his old classics\, newer routines and warm – but possibly razor sharp – audience interaction. He likes standup because it’s a great reminder that we are all equally interesting and unimportant at the same time.

DESCRIPTION:Care to learn how to curse in Yiddish and witness a reckoning between a Jewish grandson going to do solidarity work in Palestine and his long-passed on grandfather who fought the Nazis in World War II? “Kaddish (how to be a sanctury)” premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025 was met with the prestigious Bobby Award by Broadway Baby who praised its “profound writing\, imaginative staging and precise direction” and its “[invitation] to listen to the moral inheritance of our ancestors.” The play uses the real archival journals of playwright/performer Sam’s grandpa Saul N. Sherman – a Jewish WWII vet from New Jersey and intersperses it with Sam’s own writing.  Sam and his dead grandpa have a conversation about everything from resisting fascism to growing up with mobsters – all with the help of a mystical creature from Yiddish folklore.
