SUMMARY:English guided tour of the villa Winternitz
DESCRIPTION:Guided tour of the Winternitz Villa with a guide in English every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. \nThe Winternitz Villa is the realization of the world-famous architect Adolf Loos and his partner Karel Lhota (the author of all elements in the interior). The house\, which is now a cultural monument\, was built in 1931-32 for the lawyer Josef Winternitz and his family. \nParticipants will be able to come and enjoy Loos’ typical architecture and his concept of Raumplan with commentary from experienced guides. They will learn much information about the family’s turbulent fate\, but also about the villa\, which has come to life again and today also hosts a number of cultural events. \nPlease arrive 10 minutes before the tour and check the current dates and times of tours on the GoOut portal\, where you can also purchase tickets. \nhttps://goout.net/en/anglicka-komentovana-prohlidka-winternitzovy-vily/eznpcbi/ \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/881435118027253/?event_time_id=881435151360583

SUMMARY:European Book Tour : Forty Letters - to Women in War at Globe Bookstore & Cafe\, Prague
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Globe Bookstore and Cafe in Prague for the European Book Tour: Forty Letters to Women in War! \nPRAGUE – During the European Book Tour 2026 of Van Loon’s Forty Letters – to Women in War the doors to Globe Bookstore & Cafe\, Prague will open for an intimate reading with the author Erik van Loon. The bookstore Prague’s first and best English language bookstore with an iconic\, lively and trendy café. The reading on April 19 starts at 19:00. \nForty Letters – to Women in WarIn forty short\, meticulously crafted personal letters addressed to forty different women\, Van Loon transforms the horrors of the Second World War into intimate\, largely biographical accounts of resilience\, courage\, and total vulnerability. His ultimate goal is to inspire women and men in Kyiv with the letters on April 17th. \nFrom World-Famous to Hyper-LocalForty Letters is the result of a hundred-day search through newspaper clippings\, theses\, books\, archives\, and museums both at home and abroad\, supplemented by numerous interviews. The book is not merely a list of famous names\, but a conscious blend of icons and unsung heroines. Van Loon writes to the world-famous American dancer Josephine Baker\, but also to the living English farmer Peggy Banham. \nUncomfortable TruthsIn these forty letters\, Erik van Loon takes the reader on journey through the atrocities of the Second World War and by addressing the letters to women\, the author gives a voice to women whose stories have often been overshadowed in historical narratives. He also does not shy away from the uncomfortable truth. He highlights the zeal with which the Dutch police rounded up Roma and Sinti people on May 14\, 1944\, only to be forced to release most of them in Camp Westerbork due to unlawful arrest. He also reveals which six “essential” professions were spared while entire villages of innocent civilians were burned to the ground. The book names not only the victims but also the convicted perpetrators who\, in some cases\, went on to enjoy illustrious careers after the war. \nStop The BombAfter each reading\, visitors will have the opportunity to sign Van Loon’s Anti‑Aerial Bomb Treaty\, designed in 2025. The first signatures came from Berlin\, Warsaw\, Hengelo\, and Rotterdam. Now it is Zürich’s turn. Van Loon’s long‑term goal is to formally draft the treaty in Warsaw on September 25\, 2039\, and ratify it in Rotterdam on May 14\, 2040. Inspired by Princess Diana’s Anti‑Landmine Treaty\, the initiative calls on nations to cease producing\, stockpiling\, deploying\, or transferring aerial bombs.More information: http://www.14mei.nl/treaty/ \nEuropean Book TourBefore Shakespeare & Company in Vienna on April 15\, he will read at Photobastei 2.0 in Zurich on April 11\, at Altroquando in Rome on April 13\, and after at Sense in Kyiv on April 17. After he will visit Warsaw on April 18\, Prague on April 19\, Berlin on April 21. Between May 9 till 14 he will present his book in Paris\, London\, Brussel and Amsterdam.

SUMMARY:Doprovodný program k výstavě Jak mluvit s oblačníky / How to Talk to the Weather Demons
DESCRIPTION:~ For English scroll down ~ \nPřijměte naše pozvání na doprovodný program ke skupinové výstavě Jak mluvit s oblačníky ve čtvrtek 23. dubna od 18 hodin. \nČeká vás komentovaná prohlídka výstavou s kurátorkou Joannou Glinkowskou a křest drobného katalogu k výstavě. Drawing on seemingly disparate examples – from health rituals in Lower Silesian sanatoriums to the natural sewage farm in Wrocław – Roj will explore how water fosters resilience within both ecosystems and the human psyche. \nFollowing the meeting\, we will dive into the aesthetics of communist-era Poland\, retracing the steps of As (Ace)\, a superhero on a mission to solve a bizarre mystery involving disappearing water\, in the film Hydrozagadka (1970)\, directed by Andrzej Kondratiuk. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nPragovka Gallery is located on the ground floor of the 1st bay of E Factory.
