Prague Fringe: Pip Utton – Hunchback of Notre Dames
Fringe legend Pip Utton returns to Prague with what he considers to be one of his most beautiful scripts. Quasimodo keeps vigil over the lifeless body of Gypsy dancer, Esmeralda. This Hunchback is no caricature, but a sensitive soul; rejected at birth as an abomination, raised lovingly by the cathedral’s archdeacon but cast out by the people of Paris, because he is misshapen and ugly. He looks down on Paris from his home, the lofty tower of Notre Dames, only the bells and gargoyles for company.” Perhaps God doesn’t love me” If Beauty is only skin deep, isn’t ugliness the same?
