Prague Fringe: The Rodin Project: Lady Macbeth

After the sell out success with The Whisper of the Waves – Shinehouse Theatre return. Drawing inspiration from Auguste Rodin’s The Gates of Hell, this project flips the images of Adam and two shadows depicted at the gates of hell. If, according to Rodin’s conceptualisation, men descend into hell due to women and their desires, then what kind of gateway will Eve and her past and future construct?

In this project, three female performers—Emiko Agatsuma, experienced in Japanese Butoh; Yu-Chiao Chen, a professional dancer; and Jia-Yi Chen, a theater actor—each bring their diverse backgrounds and professional careers spanning their 20s, 30s, and 40s. With their respective expertise in Japanese Butoh, contemporary dance, and theatrical performance, under the guidance of choreographer Po-Yuan Chung, they will explore the intentions behind the text and sculpture through a dialogue of heterogeneous bodies.
